If Super 8 was a love letter to 1980s-style filmmaking, this adventure story looks to pay a similar form of tribute with its tech-savvy teens and their bicycle-based campaign to help the alien life form they discover. There’s even a character named “Munch” – a direct nod to The Goonies. Relativity Media isn’t established enough as a distributor to create a blockbuster hit, but Munch and his pals could still perform well if their real-life peers turn up on opening weekend.
